Second Chair Leaders Cohort

Looking to level up the staff pastor experience? Leading from the middle has its advantages and its challenges. Leaders in the “second chair” or any chair in between the top and bottom have a unique opportunity to cultivate excellence and influence at their current level of leadership. Second chair leaders gain a perspective that allows for their experience, growth, and influence to flourish.

In the Second Chair Leaders Cohort, leaders will lead with excellence, develop clarity, and save time within their current leadership role. The cohort will meet biweekly on Thursday mornings for 1 hour on Google Meet.

Cohort participants will be working through a great leadership resource within the Influence Magazine’s section entitled “Make it Count” 10-session study designed for leaders. The Fall 2024 issue has “Leading from the Second Chair.” In this 10-part study, ten essential qualities are explored for leading when you’re not in charge. The cohort will help leaders develop confidence, clarity, and consistency in serving with excellence.

What makes this cohort so effective is that not only does it help provide mentoring for the next generation of leaders, but participants will also receive (6) 1-1 Coaching Calls to help move from cohort concept to leadership reality. Each session will have live teaching on key second chair leadership concepts. This cohort is structured so that participants can immediately put into action what they’ve learned. A downloadable notes page will be provided as well as a live Coaching demo so participants can experience the best opportunity for leadership growth.

The Second Chair Leaders Cohort is a paid professional coaching partnership.

This cohort is developed by pastor and leadership coach, Eric Stender of Mason City, IL. Eric is a staff pastor with over 20 years of continued experience. As an internationally certified leadership coach, he launched Leaning Forward Life Coaching in 2021. Eric coaches ministry leaders lean forward in life and leadership with clarity, confidence, and consistency.
