Big Doors Move on Small Hinges

stenders03

I have this fascination with pictures of doors, the older looking, the better. When you see a big door, you’ll notice that the movement happens because of small hinges. I came across this concept on a recent web call: “BIG DOORS MOVE ON SMALL HINGES!” The movement we want in our lives often happens because of the movement of small hinges. Some small hinges that open big doors are daily decisions, consistent habits, steps of obedience, and taking risks. Weeks of daily decisions yield powerful results. Consistent habits over the span of several months produce dramatic changes. Taking steps of obedience leads to a fulfilling destiny. Pathways of adventure are paved with opportunities to take risks. These hinges seem insignificant when isolated, but the truth remains that “big doors move on small hinges.” How have you experienced this truth? What are some of your small hinges? Talking through the answers to these questions would be great content for a coaching conversation focused on leaning forward in life and leadership.
