OUT OF THE OFFICE

stenders03

We had the blessing of being able to go on a family vacation recently. This took some planning and intentional effort on our part to be able to be gone and enjoy quality and quantity family time. Knowing we’d be gone, there were a few main things that needed to still happen while we were gone. I took this topic into a coaching conversation. I was able to develop a realistic plan for success while I was away. Upon returning home, I was pleased to see that all of them were completed without my direct involvement. This is huge for my personal leadership growth. When reflecting on th

is success, 4 components seemed to surface: 1) Intentional Planning → I knew the dates and developed a realistic plan. 2) Dedicated and Trained Team → I took the time in the months before to train the teams in place. 3) Clear Objective → I made the responsibility clear and simple. 4) Clarified Expectations → I explained and clarified my expectations by making sure resources and directions were in place that would make the project simple to accomplish. Success using this strategy enabled me to relax and unplug from work while on vacation. Building on this success will help me move forward. And it all started with a coaching call. Coaching really works. What are you working on? How can you better prepare for success next time you’re out of the office?
