ECUADOR 2000 - As a teen and young adult, I had the opportunity to go on 4 missions trips. I have great memories of intercultural experiences from those trips. In 2020 my Dad and I were on a team doing men’s and prison ministry in Ecuador. On this trip, we toured The Middle of the World (Mitad del Mundo) is one of Ecuador’s most popular and unmissable tourist attractions. Nowhere else on the planet is it easier to visit the Equator line, or take a picture with one foot in each hemisphere. This visual has stuck with me because I knew I couldn't stay there, I had to choose a side - a powerful leadership lesson. Being with my Dad made this trip even more unforgettable. Together, we leaned into this intercultural experience, with all its adventure and unknowns. Together is better. I coach cross-cultural leaders to lean into their intercultural context with clarity, confidence, and consistency.
