Leaning Forward in Ecuador

stenders03

ECUADOR 2000 - As a teen and young adult, I had the opportunity to go on 4 missions trips. I have great memories of intercultural experiences from those trips. In 2020 my Dad and I were on a team doing men’s and prison ministry in Ecuador. This picture of my Dad and I was taken at the top of this monument in Quito, La Virgen del Panecillo, which stands on a hill in the center of Quito, visible from almost everywhere in the city. Because of its prominence in the urban landscape of Quito, the team leaders chose this spot for a powerful time of prayer for the people of Ecuador. Being with my Dad made this trip even more unforgettable. Together, we leaned into this intercultural experience, with all its adventure and unknowns. Together is better. I coach cross-cultural leaders to lean into their intercultural context with clarity, confidence, and consistency.
